when black and white die....

I've been confronted and have been consistently struggling with a dualistic view of God and the world. Newton says that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. There is good and bad, black and white, point and counter point, darkness and light, and most people believe in God vs. the devil. Is this not right? I am struck by the thought of John Wesley's sermon on "bigotry" by him saying that if one is not possessed by God then he or she is possessed by the ruler of this earth (or the archnemesis Devil). I was taught to believe this or at least some form of this. But the reality is that the devil is not God's archnemesis, God does not have an anti-God. We believe in God alone, therefore this evil power, real yes, but does not exist as the only other than God. If this is the case, if we base everything upon the design of creation, upon the belief in one God, then our dualism that is evident in creation cannot be taken back to the task of originating with God's design...or does it?

If God is the origin of our design then however factual we think opposites are in the existence of our understanding of knowledge, our origin is in oneness-unity rather than opposition. Just because one does not believe in God no more suggests that they believe in a devil, and yet we say they are claimed by him? As free will creatures are we not endowed with the ability to choose right and wrong? Or, can we see ourselves as created good (not pelegian good-let me make that distinction clear), but as participating in creation free to make our choices based upon God's will present surrounding our lives? If this is the case, black and white becomes grey, and everything we "think to be true" is always in dynamic relationship between God and us and the relationships we hold. Just had to get these thoughts out of my head...thanks.
