the blues

It is cold, rainy, october. It is one of those days that just feels 'blah' for no reason at all. I'm listening to "the blues" by Switchfoot and it offers me some hope and comfort...oh Jon Foreman you. It is my day to be at school all day so there is really no release from my melancholy feelings other than playing ping pong with Matt P (which is a definite bright spot, even though he has beaten me twice today). What I really want to do is complain to you but you and I know that I am not trying to win a sympathy vote. Therefore, moving on.

My small group of guys has been a means of grace for me this past six months. I have come to a more comprehensive understanding of prayer, not through discord and discussion but through practice. The theological discussion of prayer and if and why it matters falls to the floor as the power and encouragement that I feel from our praying together every tuesday morning is sufficiently holding me in grace. In a time of complete vulnerability we share our struggles together, and today we are going wanted to emphasize the blessing we are being found in. Here is my list of what I'm thankful for:

1: My wonderful wife and the way she always makes me laugh.
2: The financial provisions that come from nowhere for a family that lives paycheck to paycheck.
3: The passion and ability to minister and serve to and with teenagers.
4: A faith that has been instilled within me by a Father who is the sustainer and keeps me when I cannot keep myself.
5: A supportive family that has my back no matter what as well as a group of friends that cares to ask how I am doing.

Even with the blues, his grace is sufficient for me...and he is able, more than able to do much more than i could ever dream. peace.
